Grove of Narberth and Coast Saundersfoot bring back big awards to Wales
The 2022 AA Hospitality Awards event was hosted at Grosvenor House in London on Monday night to recognise and reward the very best hotels and restaurants in the United Kingdom. The AA has an essential place in the hospitality industry and the event, hosted by Gaby Logan, was attended by world-renowned chefs, prominent hoteliers, restaurateurs, and hospitality gurus.
We’re delighted to share that Grove of Narberth collected three significant awards on the night, achieving 5 Red Stars for the hotel, 4 Rosettes for its Fernery Restaurant, as well as the Wine List of the Year for Wales.
Grove is now one of just 12 UK hotels to hold both 5 Red Stars and 4 Rosettes or above from the AA. Other hotels currently achieving this standard include Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, The Ritz, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, The Connaught, The Berkeley, The Dorchester, Gleneagles, The Balmoral, Coworth Park, Whatley Manor, and Gilpin Hotel and Lake House.
“Hotel Manager Karen Weisheit, and Executive Chef Douglas Balish, have worked tirelessly to meet this exceptional standard under the careful guidance of Thomas Agius Ferrante, previously Grove General Manager and now Seren Operations Director. The wine award was the icing on the cake, and we could not be prouder of Head Sommelier, Alexios Stasinopoulos.Blockquote caption
Coast Restaurant was also awarded 3 rosettes. The restaurant had previously held 2 rosettes, which it was awarded upon opening in 2014.
Fred Clapperton, Head Chef at Coast said:
“I am absolutely delighted to have been awarded the 3 rosettes in recognition of what we are doing here at Coast. I am even more delighted for the team after the commitment and hard work they have invested over the last couple of years. We have been working hard to create a truly special experience that reflects our location, nestled into the stunning coast line of Pembrokeshire. Our journey has only just begun and I look forward to the continual progress we are sure to make.”
“At Coast, Head Chef Fred Clapperton, and Restaurant Manager Ryan Kenyon, have together taken the standards to a new level at the restaurant in Saundersfoot. It’s important that all this effort is acknowledged beyond the business, and I am so grateful that our industry has its finger on the pulse when it comes to recognising real progression
Beach House restaurant retained it’s 3 AA rosettes, which it has held since 2019.
Llongyfarchiadau cynhesaf i’r holl tîm! Warmest congratulations to our whole team!
