We were delighted to support the 2023 Tasty Careers Challenge once again this year, in partnership with Tasty Careers, Careers Wales and Castell Howell Foods Ltd.
With almost 1,000 students taking part from 15 different schools over the past few months, the final was held earlier this week at Parc Y Scarlets. Our huge congratulations go to the students from Ysgol Bro Dinefwr’s for winning the overall challenge, and also to all the participating school teams from across South Wales.
This brilliant competition aims to guide students towards food-related careers, foster essential business skills, and showcase the range of employment opportunities available in the dynamic and fast-paced food industry. They were tasked with crafting a mouth-watering restaurant dish using locally sourced Welsh ingredients, to offer a profitable and successful addition to any menu.
During the earlier rounds of the competition, local employers, restaurant, and café owners, including our Director of Operations Thomas Agius Ferrante MIH, went into the participating schools to guide the students and share their expertise as they followed the brief.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, and their hard work and planning were evident in the finalists’ proposals, with Seren MD, Neil Kedward and Beach House Restaurant Chef Director, Hywel Griffith, participating on the judging panel.
We’re looking forward to welcoming the Ysgol Bro Dinefwr team to dine with us at Beach House to enjoy their prize for winning the competition.
